THANKSFEELING DAY!
Thanksgiving Day in the USA is on its way! Everybody is getting ready for this joyous celebration. Some might even say that this celebration is bigger than Christmas. However, have you ever wondered what do foreigners think of this celebration? Are they even aware of this celebration? Take Peru for example, a lot of people know that there is a Thanksgiving Day in America, but that’s it.
This leads me to this question: Do you really know what the word Thanksgiving mean? If you do, would you be kind enough to share that with me? Why? Because I am not an American, so I’m trying to figure it out. While I was thinking about this, many ideas came to my mind, and I also checked some books and web sites. Most of the information I found was a history class…boring! Then, I decided to play a little with morphology; THANKS GIVING = GIVING THANKS = BEING GRATEFUL. So I thought, “do you need a special day to say thanks?”, that is when I realize that we usually do not give thanks often enough or even worse, we usually do not mean it.
I have the greatest mom ever, a responsible and funny dad, a cute yet mischievous little brother, a granny and pops a little far away but always on the phone; all of them are in good health. That’s more than enough to be grateful for! It doesn’t matter if I am a Christian, Mormon, Jew, American, Argentinean or Peruvian. I should always say “thank you”, to whomever makes my life meaningful. So if you are already planning to celebrate Thanksgiving, maybe you should consider making some relative or friend aware of the importance of being grateful.
Beautiful flowers or a fruit basket can say: “Thank you for being there for me!” and also would make anyone’s day!!! At http://www.peruviana.com/ we can help you if you want to send beautiful flowers or gifts to Lima-Peru. Just visit us at http://www.peruviana.com/ and we will take care of everything.
Oh! and by the way…Thank you!
